Description
Currently infusion centers are very poorly designed and non accommodating towards users who require much more attention and care. Cancer patients have become a massive number of hospital users, yet spaces are not considerate towards their needs and issues. Infusions Re-imagined means creating a space that actually deals with the user’s preferences providing all forms of options and services to accommodate some of the most under designed aspects of hospital infusion services
The main design concept is called “Warm Healing” which embodies the tranquil and warm nature of a clear mind and soul, healing through the feeling of lightness, warmth and relaxation. The main colors are based on tranquil seas, the air and soothing smooth textures. Each color has an emotional connection to a mentally relaxing setting, the main spaces are the community infusion areas, the private infusion rooms, the activity rooms and the cafe.
The community infusion spaces is inspired by nature and the sky with combination of flower and cloud designs. The patient becomes immersed in a space that feels light airy and uplifting. The overall space promotes togetherness and relaxation two very different ideas from typical hospital environments. The design fights to combat hospital stereotypes to create a space made for the patient’s needs and comforts. The café is centered around naming and coloring of cancer ribbons as it is exclusively for the infusion floor. This allows users to identify with the food and have a simpler naming and coloring system. Their logo is a combination of many lavender ribbons (general cancer awareness) put together to show unity.
